"TOYS!" at Gallery 1988

Gallery 1988: Los Angeles will open TOYS! this Tuesday, April 1st honoring the childhood gems we cherished before video games did all the work for you.
This show will feature over 100 paintings and customized toys. With the folks at Mattel, they’ll be celebrating Hot Wheels' 40th Anniversary with over 40 artists customizing 9 x 5 inch white Hot Wheels vans. And as if that wasn't enough, they'll also have 50 artists contributing pieces to be hung on the walls, all inspired by their memories of playthings from their past!
Artists in the show include: Greg “Craola” Simkins, Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, David Horvath of Ugly Dolls, Brian Despain, Matt Dangler, Allison Torneros, Noferin, and in his first gallery showing ever, Mark Brown, who made the amazing piece seen above! Another site not to be missed: a life size sports car Hot Wheel ready to take over the streets.
